super easy cutsie tutu!

I made this darling tutu for my brother's new sweet babe. It was VERY easy and turned out perfect!

Supplies:

1. 1 crochet headband
2. tulle in colors desired
3. scissors

Tutorial:

1. Start by measuring and cutting your tulle in length desired. I cut mine 12 inches for a newborn. Maybe 14 inches for 6-12 months.

2. Next, tie two pieces of tulle in each hole, alternating colors, if you wish ;) You could tie one piece per hole if you want it less full...

3. It's that easy! Fluff up a bit, and put on your cute little babe ;)

  8. Love your blog! Dumb question...maybe...did you cut the tulle in strips and tie it at the top or in the middle so its double? Did that make sense?

  9. And did it take just a yard of tulle? :) sorry for probably dumb or obvious questions.

  13. I'm confused about what the measurement should be for the tulle and how much I will need total. I adore this and can't wait to make it!

    1. Look up baby tutu on pinterest and the first one has a measurement chart. I used the rolled vs cutting fabric, rolled it around a 12 inch cereal box and made one cut, and there were all my pieces ready and fast.

  14. Same question as the comments above. Do I cut it into strips? How much tulle? I want to make one for my new baby girl for her 1 month pics! Please let me know

    1. I just made this adorable tutu for my first granddaughter. I got everything I needed at Walmart. The tule is on a spool 6" x 15yrds. All colors. I wrapped it several times around a 12" folder & cut it at both ends to make many strips at once. This was so easy! Thanks for sharing the idea.

    2. so the strips are 12" long. How wide? 6"? If you are using the spools but the instructions call for yardage.

    3. I just did one using the rolls rather than buying fabric and cutting. I purchased mine at Michael's but probably other places have the little rolls too. It turned out just fine.

    4. Another tip, cut your old cereal box 12 inches, or whatever length you want in 1/2 minus the tied knot in consideration. Just wrap the rolls and cut one end and you have it all done. You don't have to use tulle fabric. More time consuming.

    2. You can find lots of how to do's and sizes on pinterest, just enter baby tutu and the very first one tells different sides and uses elastic.

    1. I saw on another blog a great idea for length, cut a cereal box and wrap the tool that comes on a small tube I just got some at Michael's then just cut one end. You have all your layers.

    2. Also easier to use the rolls it is already cut and turns out great. I just did one for my Christmas tree skirt. The rolls can be found at Michael's and probably all craft stores, Joann's Hobby Lobby, etc.

  20. Silly question, where do you get the headbands?

    1. I have seen them at JoAnn's and Michael's and assume a Hobby Lobby would have them too.

  21. I think it turned out fantastic and great idea. How did you tie it pull it through and tie a knot? Also I think you could use 3 colors. I found a cool way to cut it. Wrap it around a cereal box and cut it once. Then they are call cut, if you buy the roll type of tulle.
